Tarangire National Park is famous for its massive elephant herds, some numbering over 300 individuals, making it one of the best places in Africa to observe these gentle giants up close. Towering baobab trees, some over 1,000 years old, dominate the landscape, creating a dramatic and timeless wilderness.
Diverse Wildlife and Birdwatching
Beyond elephants, Tarangire is home to lions, leopards, cheetahs, giraffes, and oryx. The Tarangire River attracts animals in the dry season, offering incredible predator action. Bird enthusiasts will enjoy over 550 species, including vibrant lovebirds, hornbills, and the rare Ashy Starling.
The Best Time to Visit
The dry season (June–October) is the prime time for wildlife viewing, as animals gather around the Tarangire River. The green season (November–May) offers spectacular birdwatching and fewer crowds.
