A Park of Contrasts

Located just 45 minutes from Arusha, Arusha National Park is a perfect introduction to Tanzanian safaris. It features diverse landscapes, from the lush rainforests of Mount Meru to the alkaline Momella Lakes and the Ngurdoto Crater, often called “Little Ngorongoro.

The Best Place for Walking and Canoeing Safaris

Unlike larger parks, Arusha National Park allows guided walking safaris, where visitors can see giraffes, buffalos, and colobus monkeys up close. The Momella Lakes also offer canoeing safaris, providing a rare chance to paddle past hippos and flamingos.

The Best Time to Visit

The park is a year-round destination, but for clear views of Mount Meru, visit during the dry season (June–October). The wet season (November–May) enhances the lush scenery and supports a variety of birdlife.
